Many people might hear the word dslr cameras, but may not know what it actually means. The abbreviation stands for: Digital single-lens reflex cameraIt’s basically a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera. These cameras are used mostly by professional still photographers because they allow an accurate preview of framing close to the moment of exposure and also for their larger sensors. The sensors are the same as the film cameras that were used back in the days. The sensors allow for a depth of field and picture angle similar to the traditional film cameras. These cameras also resemble a lot those traditional professional film cameras.
Most Digital SLR cameras have 1080HD video mode. Today they are highly used in short films and even were used in some Hollywood films. One of the most popular thing about Digital SLR is that they can shoot in 24p mode and 1080HD. Which is the same mode that is used in most Hollywood films. Most people get those kind of cameras for that film look. One of the most popular cameras that I know is Canon t2i / 550D which I own myself. Others are Canon 5d, 7d, 60d, Nikon D5000 and many more. Today you can find many beginners who are making great looking films with a basic camera that cost less the a thousand dollars. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between a basic canon t2i and most expensive Hollywood equipment.Main design principles of these cameras are: 4-element lens, Reflex mirror, Focal-plane shutter, Image sensor, Matte focusing screen, Condenser lens, Pentaprism, EyepieceDigital SLR is also great because of the lens technology. It is very simple to exchange the lenses, find the optimal lens for the current shooting condition, even attache a specialized lenses. Often the photographer will use a the lenses that are made by the same manufacturer, for example a Nikon lens will be used on a Nikon camera and a Canon Lens will be used on a Canon camera. There are of course exceptions. While each camera has a specific lens mount, there are independent manufacturers who are selling lens adapters and lenses with different mounts to match different cameras such as Sigma and Tokina. They are known for their cheap lenses that can work with almost any camera.
